Fat Princess

Oh, Fat Princess, you have such charm. You’re like the love child of Team Fortress 2, Gummi Bears (the TV show) and Battlefield 1942. That’s quite an interesting threesome but I hope you get the picture. It’s quirky and fun. The ability to pick up professions at the drop of a hat (see what I did there?) makes it easy for anyone to get in the game and cause some damage. Even though they allow 32 players into the game at once, you don’t often find more than 2-3 people with headsets. I wish Sony would just include a headset with a console. Although, that would probably cause the Xbox Live asshole syndrome that everyone is very aware of.

The idea is basically capture the flag, only instead of a flag you have a fat princess. You can make the princess tubbier by feeding her cake. The more you feed her, the heavier she gets and the harder it is to run her back to your base. Simple, yet slightly genius. Although the game was plagued with networking problems when it was first released, it’s smooth sailing now and doesn’t take much time at all to jump into a game.

At $15, Fat Princess it’s well worth it. While the number of titles that are released on the PSN is fewer than on Live, I feel like that each title on the PSN has a higher overall quality. I hope that both Sony and developers look at games like Fat Princess, Trash Panic and Trine and realize that there is a strong market for good quality PSN games.
